Stella & Cyber Bernedoodle Puppies She delivered 9/13/20
Hard to believe tomorrow is the big take home day! Today will be a full day of preparations. Baths, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and all supplies loaded for the adventure ahead. We will be so sad to see them go, but knowing they are all so loved already means so much to us. They are at the perfect point to be welcomed to their forever homes. We have had so many fun times and they have learned a lot so we are excited to see them go off to bring joy and love to their new homes ❤️
This has been a busy week! We have continued using the marker word “YES” to encourage puppies to sit when they great us as well as come along with their individual names. I had my niece here to help one day to give each puppy time with with a new voice and smell to see how they responded to her. They all did very well and listened so well to her. We have also continued to have them spend time in the crate with the door shut, leash work, more exposure to the bath, nails have been trimmed again, time inside, stairs work, and much more. Each puppy is doing so well and getting all ready for their forever homes this Friday. They will have another bath, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, and fresh bath mist applied. They will be all fluffy and ready meet their new people. While we are sad to see them go we are so happy to have each one going to the perfect home for them. Here are their weekly wts: Guster 15.5 Tiggy 15.5 Boomer 15.2 Hattie 12.5 Ella 12
We have done more exploring in the last few days. It is so fun to see the puppies responding so well to come and their names. We explored our creek and backyard area and each puppy did so well to come when called. They really are loving the little snow we have. They have been inside for another evening time and with all their visits inside we have only had one potty in the house. This is really a great bunch of puppies who we will have a hard time saying goodbye to in a little over a week.
Puppies have enjoyed more time with our adult dogs as well as coming in our home to have more exposure to stairs, water, different sounds and smells, and more focused one on one time. We have introduced them to leashes, continue to work on sit when they greet us, name recognition, and come. They had their paws washes in the tub and nails clipped. They are all doing very well. We enjoy this time so much!! They have grown a ton this week as you can see: Tiggy 12 lbs Boomer 11.5 Guster 12.5 Ella 10 Hattie 10.5
Pink will be called Ella ❤️
We have moved from beautiful fall weather to winter almost overnight, but the puppies don’t seem to mind one bit. The vet appointment went very well today, and I somehow forgot my phone and did not take any pictures😫. Everyone’s check up was perfect the vet is very happy with how well they are doing. We had a great recommendation to start desensitizing puppies to different sounds so we began that this week with really good results. I am excited to introduce this to all our Moms and puppies moving forward. I have a picture of all the sounds for you to see what they will have been exposed to. We continued to work on resource guarding by having our hands in their food while they eat and everyone is very relaxed with this! Crate time in very short increments has not been a favorite activity for some of them but we will continue to expose them to this over the next few weeks they are with us. Most all potties are done outside during the day and on their paper at night 🥳. We also continue to work on sit, come and their names each day.
So many things are happening this week. Puppies have and will continue to be exposed to crates, startle response work will be done, time away from siblings, come, and teaching the "YES" marker word for sitting. We are also working on food resource guarding by having our hands in their food when they eat to help them not show dominance in this area. All puppies are doing very well in this area. Puppies are using the doggie door with ease and most potties are done outside or on their paper at night. We had several visits this week and all the puppies did very well. One boat we had 8 at one time which was so good to see them respond well to louder noises, taller people, and different sounding humans all at once. We are just in love with these puppies and can hardly wait for you to meet them. They also got their first visit from Penny our sweet Golden. She loved the time as did they. Puppies are growing like crazy and very wiggly on the scale. Here are their 5 week weights: Guster 10lbs Tiggy 10lbs Boomer 10lbs Hattie 9 lbs Pink 8 lbs
Pink is chosen but the family is working on the perfect name for her❤️
Correction on Orange he is Tiggy, I am running on low sleep🤪
Orange boy has been chosen and is now Tiggy
Lime boy has been chosen and is now Guster
Blue boy has been chosen and is now Boomer
Puppies are enjoying exploring their outdoor space on these beautiful fall days. They love the tunnels we have and are showing great interest in all the new toys we introduce. We have had more visitors and continue to work on startle response which they are handling very well. Puppies have been eating 2 times daily but tomorrow we will add the third feeding. When they go home they will continue to eat 3 times daily until your vet recommends you to transition to 2 times daily. Nails were trimmed today and during the night all poops were done on their potty spot in their area. They are doing very well going outside also when they have the chance. We will start to allow them to use the doggie door this weekend. I forgot to post their weights at 4 weeks old so here they are: green 6.8 orange 6.8 blue 6.7 purple 6.5 pink 5.13
The puppies are all doing so well!! They are becoming so social, engaging interaction, learning to sit when greeting us, lovable puppies. They are doing very well being introduced to new toys and eagerly want to explore and play with them. They are responding well to startling noises and sometimes don’t even seem to be bothered by them at all. They enjoy time with us most of all and are all so kind and loving. Stella has recovered so well and is enjoying her time with them but also getting a bit more time away as they continue the weaning process. They still nurse 4-5 times each day but that will drop gradually until they are completely done at week 6. They are all doing very well on two feedings softened Lifes Abundance Large Breed Puppy Food. We are enjoying every minute of these puppies!
Puppies have successfully made the transition to their outside space and are loving their larger area to explore! Toys have been introduced as well as a water dish they are loving to get wet and play in. The potty area is already getting used 🥳. Stella is also liking having more space to spread out as well as retreat from puppies once she is done feeding. This is very important now that puppies are getting teeth. We will continue to spend lots of time out with puppies as well as have very intentional visits. Puppies will be dewormed again this weekend and also start their first bites of kibble. Purple girl is now Hattie❤️
Sweet purple girl has been chosen🥳
We have been enjoying movie nights with puppies both upstairs and downstairs. This is a fun way to get them acclimated to new sights, sounds, and smells. The puppies also enjoyed some more time outside and the weather continues to look beautiful so they will have more time outside this week. Nails will be trimmed again today and collars continue to need to be adjusted for rapid growth. This morning I noticed the first tail wag when I greeted the puppies. So fun to see their moment to moment development. Teeth have also started to pop through which makes this the perfect time to start their first bites of puppy mush in a few days. We are getting everything prepped for the transition to their new space and can hardly believe we are almost 1/2 way to take home. Soon the licking process will begin so get your names ready. We can’t wait to start calling them by name and will update the blog as they are chosen. 3 week weights are as follows: orange 5.11 lbs green 5.11 lbs blue 5.8 lbs Fuschia 4.10 lbs purple 5.7 lbs
These puppies have won us over! They are all so sweet and content. They continue to get stronger and are still very wobbly but are now sitting and will soon be starting to run. The process goes so fast. Their ears and eyes are now open to help them explore more the world around them. We have had family over for visits to give the puppies exposure to different handling and new smells. We continue to do our daily ENS time and nails were trimmed again yesterday. Stella is doing very well and loving all the visits and extra attention she is getting. We hope to get another nice day to get the puppies out for another outside experience.
Hard to believe these puppies are already 2 weeks old. They are growing and maturing so much. Eyes have all opened, first steps have been taken, little barks and growls have started. They seem to change before our eyes. Puppies enjoyed their first adventure outside on our last beautiful day we had. This is a great way to give them many new smells, new things to feel, and different sounds now that ears are also opening. We continue to do ENS time daily with each puppy. They are showing interest in Stella’s food which is a good sign that they will be ready for mush in the next week or so. Their 2 week weights are as follows: Blue 3.13 lbs Orange 3.13 lbs Lime 3.14 lbs Fuchsia 3.5 lbs Purple 3.8 lbs Now that puppies are moving around more they are starting to get up and move away from their sleeping area to go to the bathroom. We keep their area very clean to encourage them in this area. The process of them keeping their area clean is a great start in the potty training that will continue as we transition them to our outside space in the next weeks as well as in your home. Stella has enjoyed daily hikes and time outside to relax and have time away from puppies. This will continue through the weaning process.
Stella and her puppies are all doing very well! She is so devoted and gentle with her puppies as well as visitors we have had come to see the puppies. The puppies have already had several visits and handling from grandparents, young friends, and new adults to give them lots of exposure to new smells and different humans. While their eyes are still closed as well as their ears smell and touch are their biggest senses currently. We have started to integrate new smells of herbs and citrus smells to enhance their environment. We continue to do ENS daily with new helpers when they are here. Nails will be trimmed again today and the puppies will get their first dose of dewormer this weekend. They will be dewormed every 2 weeks until they go home. Stella has continued to enjoy the beautiful weather we have been having and naps on the deck. Our boys enjoy just sitting and watching all the puppy movements for entertainment as you can see below 😂
Meet the puppies
Meet the girls
Can’t hardly get enough snuggles, before school, during school (on days they do school at home), after schools, in between sports, before bed...these puppies get loads of love for sure!
Puppies and Stella are all doing very well! We gave each one a new collar and changed dark green to blue so they are easier to identify. They have all had their nails trimmed for the first time to help expose them to more handling as well as to keep Stella safe from scratches. They each got weighed again today and are as follows: Blue boy 1.12 lbs (formerly green) Lime boy 1.12 lbs Orange boy 1.13 lbs Fuchsia 1.9 lbs Purple 1.10 lbs We will continue to do our ENS daily 1-2 times as well as start exposing them to new scents. Our next post will be Sunday for their first 1 week of life video. We then plan to blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the weekly video update each Sunday. Have a wonderful weekend!
Now that we can get back to our normal schedule with the puppies we have begun our ENS (early neurologic stimulation). I am so lucky to have young, gentle helpers to help in this task as each puppy gets even better exposure to children through this technique. We follow the “Puppy Culture Method” and feel this really helps in shaping each future puppies development, temperament, and health through all the steps we take. This is one of the funnest parts of working with puppies and as we start getting to know each one more individually. Stella continues to be a very devoted, gentle Mother and is doing very well!! She is enjoying breaks here and there with this beautiful weather and very trusting of us all being in with her and the puppies very regularly through the day.
Ultrasound confirmed that Stella is no longer caring puppies. As hard is this is for us to hear, we are counting our blessings that we have 5 beautiful puppies and Stella’s health has been preserved. Stella is doing very well and the vet was very pleased with how well she is doing.
Quick update, Stella had a very good night as did all her puppies! On and off she has had signs of labor but no contractions. The vet is on her way this morning to check in her. The good news is Stella is doing g very well, producing great milk supply, and comfortable. Her puppies are growing at rapid speed and very content. Stella enjoyed a dip in the creek late yesterday and a morning hike in the meadow. She wags her tail constantly which makes my heart so happy to see she is in good spirits. Seems only the humans around her are the worried ones not sleeping 😆. I will update again after the vet checks her over.
Just wanted to give a quick update! Stella continues to be doing very well. She is eating lots, has great milk supply, and her puppies have already grown a lot. She is showing more signs that she may be going back into labor. She has taken a couple good walks and maintains a good appetite which is all very promising. That being said it could still be early morning as that seems to be how dogs like to whelp. Puppies got weighed for the second time today: Green boy (tri color) was first to be born and weighed 14.5oz today he is 1.6 lbs, #2 Lime boy (brindle) birth wt 14.2oz today 1.4lbs, #3 Orange boy (brindle) birth way 15oz today 1.5lbs, #4 Fusia girl (tri color) birth we 15 oz today is 1.3lb, and #5 Purple girl birth we 13oz today 1.3lbs. (She technically was born 9/14/20😉). Tomorrow we start early neurological stimulation with each puppy. Hope to have good news of more delivery’s in the next post.
Stella is doing very well and has been such a gentle, attentive Mother. All 5 puppies are healthy, eating well, and very content. We are in constant communication with the vet about how Stella is doing. She said that as long as Stella is not in distress that it happens for dogs to take a “whelping break” up to 48 hours from their last pup before delivering the rest. So for now we wait and pray that all the puppies inside will be birthed naturally by tomorrow morning. Stella enjoyed some time out with Aggie in the meadow this morning.
The vet came and performed an ultrasound as well as gave the puppies a check up. Stella is doing well but still has 2 puppies (with heart beats) still in her. She is getting Pitocin now to help strengthen her contractions to get the puppies out.
Late into the night yesterday, Stella delivered 5 beautiful puppies! She had 3 males and 2 females. 1 Tri color male & 2 tri color females as well as 2 sable/brindle males. We know this is far less than expected and we will have some sad families we are feeling blessed that Stella is doing well and all her puppies are healthy! We have a call into the vet to have Stella observed to make sure no puppies are still inside as more had been observed on her ultrasound. Please pray that everyone continues to do well over the next critical 24 hours. More pictures to come!
Hard to believe this active Mama is just a week away from her due date. Stella is doing so well! She got to enjoy an extra long weekend with us adventuring on Lake Superior. This was the perfect way for her to relax and be with us every moment. Her belly is so full and she still loves nothing more than for us all to rub it. The cool weather, water, smells, and constant attention from all of us made for the best way to spend the days leading up to puppies ahead. We hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!
Stella seems to grow by the moment! She has a great appetite and is loving the cooler weather. She loves any chance she can hop in the van for a ride with us and belly rubs are her most favorite thing these days. She was a bit sad to see the boys all got off to school today but will be happy to know they will only be gone 2 days per week so she will get lots of extra time with them due to Covid. I think all our dogs have loved having the entire family home most days since the pandemic started. With only 2 weeks left until Stella's due date many preparations are being made here to ensure we are ready to welcome her puppies. We couldn't more excited to see them all very soon!
Stella is doing very well and growing before our eyes. Her appetite has increased and her bellY is really starting to show her puppies. She stays cool in her air conditioned space or in the creek in our backyard. She love the meadow as always and walks on our trails. She is enjoying all the extra love and attention pregnancy brings too ❤️
Stella had her ultrasound today and was confirmed to indeed be pregnant! I have added her ultrasound pictures as well as some fun photos of her camping last week with our extended family. My nephew fell in love with her as we all have. She is such a sweet girl who is going to produce amazing puppies.
