Red has been chosen...meet Rose
And just like that the picking has begun! Lime girl is now Peachie❤️
Happy Monday! Puppies continue to grow and develop right before our eyes. There ability to sense more of the world around them makes them so much more responsive. Some have started to wage their tails and walk over on wobbly legs to come see us when we are close. They definitely can sense Penny when she is close and wake up immediately when she steps in their space. They are starting to play with each other and are learning they have a voice. This will be a big week for them as we transition them to their bigger space so we can introduce them to a potty area and give them more room to move around and explore. They will also start on very soft puppy food later this week. I have included some pictures of their new space to help you see what is to come. They will start on the smaller side and as they grow they will graduate to the larger side during the day with access to the doggie door to go in and out. Puppy picking will begin soon and I will update the blog as soon as each puppy is chosen.
Now that puppies eyes have opened getting a good picture gets a bit tricky as they are more aware of all that is going on around them. Capturing them with their eyes open and sitting still can be a challenge. That being said, here is my best effort to share how beautifully, unique they all are. They were troopers and the time away from siblings on new surfaces with new smells is very good for them. They are all doing so well and progressing just as expected. We have had a few new gentle hands to hold them this week and continue to do daily ENS time. They have also had their nails trimmed again to keep acclimating them to this and also to keep Penny safe from getting scratched as they get stronger.
Red is the smallest of the girls she weighs 2 lbs 1 oz. She has very nice wavy/curl coat at this point. She is the second darkest of the girls and has a small white area on her chest.
Purple weighs 2lbs 5oz and has the curliest coat of the girls. She is in the middle as far as darkness goes and has white on her head, nose, chest and one back paw.
Pink weighs 2lbs 10oz and is the second lightest. She has small white patch on her chest and has a nice wavy curl to her coat at this point.
Yellow weighs 2lbs 14 oz and is the biggest female and also the lightest in color. She has white on her head, chest, nose and back paw. She also has a nice wavy curl to her coat.
Lime weighs 2lbs 6 oz and is the darkest female in color and also has the flattest coat. Her face has started to curl in the last few days so we expect she will also have a nice wave to her coat. She has no white on her.
Blue weighs 2 lbs 3 oz and is the darkest of the boys and also the smallest boy. He has the flattest coat but his face started to curl so we expect he will have a nice wave to his coat. He has a very small white area on his chest.
Gray weighs 2lbs 6oz and is the second darkest of the boys. He also has a floater coat but his face has curls so we expect him to have a nice wave to his coat. He has white on his head, chest, & front paw.
Green weighs 2 lbs 11oz and is the 3rd darkest of the boys. He also has the most white markings of the body on his head, nose, chest and 3 paws. He has a nice wavy/curl to his coat at this point.
Black weighs 2 lbs 7 oz and has a very nice wavy curl to his coat. He has a white chest and is on the lighter side for color.
Brown weighs 2 lbs 6 oz and is lighter in color. He has white on his head, nose, chest, and 2 paws. He has a very nice wavy curl to his coat at this point.
Light Blue weighs 2 lbs 13 oz and is the biggest boy. He has white in his chest and head. He has a very nice wavy curl to his coat at this point.
Happy Monday! Puppies have started to open their eyes. It is very hard to capture on camera but they will continue to open them more fully and for longer periods with each day. They have also started to push themselves up in a sitting position and have taken their first wobbly steps. A few have even started to bark which is all due to the fact they are starting to see shadows and sense more the world around them. Ears will open in the next week also moving the puppies into a transitional period. Puppies continue to get daily ENS time and are also getting short time outside the whelping area. They are all doing very well with this and of course we are all enjoying getting to handle them even more.
Puppies eyes will be opening any day now but it is a slow process until they are fully opened. They had their nails trimmed today and did very well. We will do this often to acclimate them and to keep Penny safe as they get more vigorous when nursing. Each of our boys plays a big role in time, attention, and touch with each puppy. Penny continues to do very well and is the most mellow mama! She is enjoying more time outside as she takes more breaks in between feedings.

Happy Monday! Penny and all her puppies are doing so well. They are all nursing well and growing right before our eyes. Puppies can not see ore hear at this point. Eyes will begin to open around day 11 and ears will open a few days after that closer to the 3 week point. We are all enjoying doing daily ENS time with each puppy and giving lots of other snuggles in between.
I just can’t not share all these cute pictures ❤️ We are just loving these puppies. We even had family stop by to see them and help do ENS time today.
Happy New Year! Penny and her puppies are all doing very well! Each puppy has gotten a fresh collar yesterday and their weight to make sure everyone is growing. All are putting on weight and doing well. Today we begin ENS (Early Neurologic Stimulation). ENS is a process that introduces mild stresses in a controlled way. These stresses help stimulate the neurological system which improves the growth and development of the puppies immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance. We will continue this for the first weeks of life.
It was a long night but the final count is 11 (6 boys and 5 girls). Everyone is doing very well. Penny is a great mother and very attentive. The colors are absolutely beautiful some light and others dark with most having some white markings from Newt. So excited to see them grow.
11🤗 6 boys & 5 girls
We are up to 9. 6 boys & 3 girls
Six so far and all is well. 4 boys & 2 girls.
Penny is doing great! We have 4 so far 2 boys and 2 girls. Most seem to have some white markings like their daddy!!
And just like that puppy #1 made it’s appearance and it is a girl. Penny is doing very well and the puppy is nursing and doing well. This is going to be a long night so I will do my best to update periodically.
Penny is in no rush. She is showing signs of labor now such as panting, wanting to go out more frequently, digging at her pillow. Today is my Birthday so we will see if she has been holding out for that...or New Years😳. She is such a sweet girl even when she is obviously uncomfortable. Tons of puppy movement that is visible across the room almost. Seems the puppies are anxious to meet us. It shouldn’t be long now.
Penny is still doing very well and just taking her sweet time. There is lots of puppy movement in her belly. She is again not showing any immediate signs of labor starting so we may be into tomorrow for puppies. She is comfortable and enjoying lots of snuggles by the fire today. As always Ruby isn’t leaving her side.
Today is Penny’s due date and so far no immediate signs of labor. Her temperature is down a bit today which means it will be within the next day or two, but her calm demeanor tells me it will still be a bit before her labor begins. Ruby seems to sense what is happening and stays close to Penny which is so cute. Penny is enjoying all the extra attention and not being scolded for being on the furniture 😆. I also thought I would share some fun pictures of Newton from Christmas. We enjoyed seeing him so much!
Merry Christmas! Penny’s is doing very well the snow storm we just had she is enjoying helping us pack the trails. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
Penny’s X-ray went well today! The vet counted 11 for sure and has puppy 12 & 13 marked with a question mark. With such a full belly it makes counting very complicated. This just gives us a better guess so we know how many to expect during delivery. We are very excited to meet them so very soon...only 1 week until her due date🤗. Praying for a safe delivery and healthy puppies.
We are getting so close now and Penny is doing very well. She is growing and we are feeling lots of puppy movement. We have her whelping spot all set up and ready to go in our family room so she will be close to us once puppies arrive. She still loves to run in the field and go for hikes but also enjoys her naps. Still her favorite thing by far is to be next to one of us and to have her belly rubbed. She has a vet appointment Monday to X-ray so we get a more accurate count of puppies prior to delivery. I will post an update after her appointment.
Penny is doing very well! This last week she got to come with on an adventure to Ashland to visit Lake Superior with Ruby. She loved the van ride and running in the sand with all the new smells. She also enjoys any chance she can get a snuggle especially when we are all home for movie or game night. She is getting a bit more tired as she grows bit that is very normal for this stage. She has a great appetite and a growing belly🤗.
We are so excited to begin the journey with you for your future puppy! Penny is doing very well and is getting quite the belly on her. She enjoys hiking in the woods, sledding when we have had snow, movie night, car rides whenever she can hop in, and running in the field. Here are some fun pictures of what she has been up to these last weeks.
